What is PTA? Who is in the PTA?
PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. All FIA parents and teachers are automatically part of the PTA. Every individual is an essential part of the success of our students and school.
Are we a PTA or PTO?
We are a PTA, we are part of FIA. We are not registered as a separate organization.
What is the purpose of the PTA at FIA?
The PTA is an integral part of the school. Its purpose is to bring parents and teachers together to work for one common cause–our students. To achieve this goal, the PTA aims to support the school community as a whole. This includes the educational, financial, and cultural resources of the school.
How can we help?
Every individual is an essential part of the success of our students and school. There are many ways to help and they are all equally important:
- Come to the PTA meetings
- Participate in Events and Fundraisers
- Donate money
- Volunteer your time
- to meet with others, organize, setup, and run events.
- research grants
- parent outreach
- create flyers
- visit/call businesses for donations/sponsorship
- research new ideas
What kinds of events does the PTA usually organize?
In addition to our PTA meetings, the PTA organizes a yearly school field trip, which is usually held in the month of October. Other events include: game nights, movie nights, breakfasts, potlucks, teacher appreciation week, events in cooperation with the school, and etc.
What kinds of fundraisers does the PTA run?
The biggest fundraiser held by the PTA is the chocolate sale fundraiser. Profits from this sale help to fund the school-wide field trip and transportation costs. Other fundraisers include: scripts, bake sales, snack sales, etc.
